Supporting your maintenance strategy
Alstom's expertise: The first Alstom electrical machines were manufactured in
1887. Since then, Alstom has designed, manufactured and serviced more than
4000 generators worldwide. This experience allows Alstom to propose reliable,
adaptable, cost effective and simple site implementation retrofit and repair
solutions on numerous technologies.
Overtime, Alstom has gained in-house expertise on other OEM (original equipment
manufacturer) technologies through repairs and retrofit up to 1200 MVA.
Changing markets: Deregulation and introduction of more stringent environmental
laws have created new challenges for power plant operators and have resulted in
competitive markets for electricity and a strong drive to reduce generating cost and
fuel emissions. Alstom offers reliable solutions allowing you to stay competitive.
Reliable solutions
ENHANCED EFFICIENCY
Retrofitting of ageing existing generators with modern Alstom technology
offers an attractive return on investment with a reduction in fuel cost and plant
emissions.
CAPACITY INCREASE
ncreased demand for power and the high market price during peak periods
are powerful drivers for increasing the MW capacity and reliability of existing
generating plants.
A generator retrofit offers the most cost effective means of increasing capacity in
most cases (typically 10% and sometimes up to 15%) and, therefore, increasing
revenues when combined with a boiler or steam turbine retrofit.
FLEXIBILITY
Flexible operation modes may cause drastic load variations for the generators,
which affects their winding temperature and relative thermal expansion.
Retrofitting with state of the art technology offers a more homogeneous
temperature distribution for operation without damaging the general conditions
of the winding and its supports.
IMPROVED RELIABILITY
Retrofit increases the time interval between outages and reduces both the outage
duration and maintenance cost.
