With the further development of its Open Spray Tower (OST) design, Alstom
presents an excellent solution for Wet Flue Gas Desulphurisation (WFGD). Worldwide emissions compliance is guaranteed over a wide range of applications,
including high-sulphur fuels.
To meet environmental compliance standards, SO2 and other acid gases like HCl
and HF are removed from the off gases at the WFGD stage by the continuous
introduction of a low-cost limestone slurry sprayed upward and downward through
the absorber vessel.
Alstom’s proven open spray tower technology achieved 85 – 95% SO2 removal for its
1st Generation multiple tower technology, and thanks to Performance Enhancement
Plates (PEPs) and increased velocity design it reached 92 – 98% SO2 removal for its 2nd
Generation single vessel technology.
