description /^/-ultrasonic sensors operate as non-contacting position switches determining distances by the echo propagation time process. The temperature compensated propagation time measurement enables a very exact sensing of positi驭on over a wide temperature range for sound reflecting objects of any color and material. The high sound frequency makes the ultrasonic sensor insensitive to interference also in rough industrial envi-ronments. They are equipped with LED displays as setting aids and for status control. By connecting the supply voltage to the teach-in input or actuating the teach-button, the desired sensing range can be taught. In the case of the switching sensors, teaching the desired sensing range takes place accurately to one millimeter. On the basis of the analog output of the measuring sensor (4 ... 20mA) the minimal teach range is 5mm. Below this parameter, each and every section within the measuring range (20 ... 200mm) can be taught (e.g. 30 ... 35mm). | The sensor devices have a 'dead-zone' directly in front of the sensor head in which no object can be found. The retro-reflective sensor is set up on a sound-reflective datum surface (min. 30x30mm) and not, as is the case for the retro reflective sensors, on the object. This way, everything is detected which is located in the path of reflection between the sensor and the datum surface. | |||||||||||
