PCI Bus Accelera Series, 1-8 axes
nnnnDMC-18x6 Series
nnnnProduct Description
nnnnThe DMC-18x6 PCI bus motor controllers belong to
nnnnGalil's latest generation motion controller family: the
nnnnAccelera Series. Incorporating a 32-bit RISC-based
nnnnmicrocomputer, these controllers offer high-speed
nnnnperformance and processing power. Speed improve-
nnnnments include acceptance of encoder inputs up to
nnnn22 MHz, servo update rates as low as 31 microsec-
nnnnonds/axis, and command execution times as low
nnnnas 40 microseconds. While the DMC-18x6 offers
nnnnDMC-1886 performance enhancements compared to prior
nnnnand DMC-1846 generation PCI controllers, the programming lan-
nnnnguage and 100-pin SCSI
nnnnconnector are virtually the
nnnnsame, making conversion
nnnntothe DMC-18x6 quick
nnnnand easy.
nnnnThe DMC-18x6 is avail-
nnnnable in one through eight-
nnnnaxis formats, and each axis is
nnnnuser-configurable for step-
nnnnper or servo motor opera-
nnnntion. The controller includes optically isolated inputs
nnnnincluding a forward limit, reverse limit and home input
nnnnfor each axis, in addition to uncommitted analog and
nnnndigital I/O. Up to two encoders are accepted for each
nnnnservo axis.
nnnnStandard programming features include PID
nnnncompensation with velocity and acceleration feedfor-
nnnnward, multitasking for simultaneously running up to
nnnneight programs, and I/O processing commands for
nnnnsynchronizing motion with external events. Modes of
nnnnmotion include point-to-point positioning, position
nnnntracking, jogging, linear and circular interpolation,
nnnncontouring, PVT, electronic gearing and ECAM. Like all
nnnnGalil controllers,the DMC-18x6 controllers use Gain's
nnnnpopular, intuitive command language which makes
nnnnthem very easy to program. The new GalilTools soft-
nnnnware further simplifies system set-up with"one-but-
nnnnton" servo tuning and real-time display of position and
nnnnvelocity information.
