nnnnM Series Manual Hand wheel Gear Actuators
nnnnfor Type A11, A31A and A41 Butterfly Valves
nnnnM Series handwheel gear actuators (figure 1) are
nnnntotally enclosed, weatherproof, worm gear actuators
nnnnfor reliable manual operation with Type A11, A31A
nnnnand A41 High Performance Butterfly Valves. The M
nnnnSeries actuator consists of a body housing, cover,
nnnnworm gear, input shaft, and handwheel. The housing
nnnnis grease-packed.
nnnnNote

nnnn• Long Service Life—Rugged construction
nnnnprovides stability and corrosion resistance. The unit
nnnnis totally enclosed for weatherproof operation.
nnnn• Accurate Valve Disc Positioning—Two
nnnnadjustable stops are located in the housing for
nnnncorrect adjustment of disc position. The actuator is
nnnninherently self-locking, unless subjected to high
nnnnvibration.
nnnn• Overtravel Capability—Provides for five
nnnndegrees of overtravel in both directions for precise
nnnnpositioning of the valve disc.
nnnnInstallation
nnnnThe M Series gear actuator is normally mounted on
nnnna valve at the factory. However, the actuator can be
nnnnfield-mounted; it can be mounted in any position on
nnnnthe Type A11 or A31A and it can be mounted in
nnnnpositions 1 and 3 on the Type A41, as shown in
nnnnfigure 2. Make clearance considerations before
nnnnmounting the actuator to determine the most suitable
nnnnmounting position. Dimensions are shown in figure 3.
