nnnnClose-coupled centrifugal pumps from
nnnnMTH provide economical performance
nnnnup to 240 GPM applications requiring
nnnnheads to 360 feet. By combining the
nnnnlatest concepts in pump design with
nnnnprecision manufacturing, the D Series
nnnnpumps deliver excellent efficiency and
nnnnlow NPSH requirements. Efficient
nnnnmanufacturing processes and highly
nnnnoptimized mechanical designs control
nnnncosts. Maintenance costs are kept to a
nnnnminimum by combining a highly service-
nnnnable design with quality components
nnnnto provide a long service life.
nnnnCasing
nnnnStandard casing construction of all
nnnnunits is ASTM A48 Class 30 cast
nnnniron. All bronze casings are currently
nnnnavailable in the D71 and D91 Series
nnnnonly. In all models, the discharge can
nnnnbe rotated to any 90° position and
nnnnNPT suction and discharge ports are
nnnnstandard. Back pull out design allows
nnnnthe pump to be serviced without
nnnndisturbing the piping. The volute
nnnnwas designed to maximize hydraulic
nnnnefficiency.
nnnnMechanical Seal
nnnnType 21 Buna-N seal is rated to
nnnn225°F and pressures to 175 PSI and
nnnnis used on the D51, D61, D71, and
nnnnD91 Series. The carbon seal face
nnnnmates with
nnnna ceramic
nnnnseat providing
nnnnyears of
nnnntrouble-free
nnnnservice. The
nnnnseal cooling
nnnnjacket high
nnnntemperature
nnnnversion of the
nnnnD51 unit uses a Type
nnnn21 Viton seal that is rated
nnnnto 400°F with pressures to 175
nnnnPSI. Alternate seals available upon
nnnnrequest.
nnnnImpeller
nnnnThe hydraulic design of the enclosed
nnnnimpellers maximizes pressure
nnnnand capacity while minimizing
nnnnhorsepower. All standard D Series
nnnnmodels feature a cast bronze impeller,
nnnnwhile the high temp jacketed version
nnnnof the D51 utilizes a vacuum cast
nnnnenclosed impeller made of CDA87500
nnnnsilicon bronze for high temperature
nnnnresistance. This high temp D51 also
nnnnfeatures a pressed-on throttle bushing
nnnnwhich fits snugly into the motor
nnnnbracket to restrict hot fluid circulation
nnnninto the cooled seal cavity.

nnnnPrecise machining of the D
nnnnSeries motor brackets allows
nnnneasy assembly of the pumps.
nnnnA 1/8" NPT hole is provided
nnnnin the motor bracket for a seal
nnnnflush line if desired. The D51
nnnnalso comes in a high temp
nnnnversion that has a motor bracket
nnnnwith a cast-in seal cooling jacket
nnnnwhich allows fluids up to 500°F to
nnnnbe pumped without damage to the
nnnnmechanical seal or the motor. The
nnnnseal chamber is specially machined
nnnnto allow minimal hot liquid circulation,
nnnnwhich keeps the area cool. The water
nnnnjacket has 1/2" NPT ports every 90°
nnnnfor easy water line connections.
nnnnMotor
nnnnThe NEMA JM frame motor found
nnnnon the D71 and D91 Series utilizes a
nnnnhigh carbon steel shaft. The NEMA
nnnn56J frame motors used on the D51
nnnnand D61 Series utilize a 416 stainless
nnnnsteel shaft. The motor's heavy duty
nnnnball bearings withstand heavy axial
nnnnand radial thrust loads. Standard
nnnnenclosure type is open drip-proof with
nnnnalternatives available on request.
