What used to require a full rack of equipment
can now be accomplished by using a single
Managed WAN Gateway (MWG). Based on
industry-standard CompactPCI® architecture
and Linux® software, the Managed WAN
Gateway from PT supports both module
hot-swap and remote management of all
major functions in a single chassis. This
increases operating efficiency while also
reducing the number of unique spares
required. Remote management via Ethernet
makes centralized system management a
reality.
Remote Management
The MWG can be monitored and managed
locally or remotely via Ethernet from any
location by using PT’s Intelligent Shelf
Manager (ISM).
A highly programmable device,the ISM
automatically monitors power, thermal,
and operational conditions in the chassis,
and reports chassis status both locally
and to any selected remote monitoring
locations. Additionally, the ISM provides
Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) information,
including serial number, hardware/software revision levels, and status for any
module installed in the chassis. The ISM
can powercycle any individual slot or the
entire chassis.
All management functions are controlled by
a fully featured Graphical User Interphase
(GUI) or via the Command Line Interphase
(CLI).
