Dielectric Pulse Compression Reflection Gratings
Highly efficient dielectric reflection gratings are a key
element for pulse compression of Ultrashort Pulse Laser
systems. While state of the art gold coated reflection gratings suffer from poor performance in terms of efficiency
and absorption, the Dielectric Pulse Compression Reflection
Gratings enable very compact setups due to the feasibility of
small areas for higher power due to low absorption. The dielectric reflection PCGs show efficiencies of more than 97 %.
The product complements our existing product line of
transmission PCGs featuring high damage threshold and
outstanding thermal stability.
The gratings consist of a multilayer mirror on a quartz mask
with a top transmission grating. The multilayer mirror is
composed of alternating layer stack of different materials
which enable a high reflectivity. The diffraction is achieved
by lateral periodic grooves in a SiO2 top layer. The grating
on top is fabricated by using high resolution e-beam lithography followed by dry etch techniques.
