Today‘s plastic packaging manufacturers benet from barrier layers. Even the smallest thickness protects the product from external
inuences or the loss of avor. Taste and quality of the packaged food product is ensured.
What happens when the invisible layer is defective?
For common inspection systems the barrier layer is invisible which causes a problem for many customers. Our customer requested
a system to “see the invisible”, INTRAVIS accepted this challenge and developed this new inspection system for the inspection of
invisible barrier layers. At rst, optimized for EVOH barriers, it is now also capable of inspecting additional barrier materials.
The BarrierWatcher inspects the barrier for any irregularities on the nished product. For the purpose of detecting specic
properties of the inner barrier layer, INTRAVIS designed specialized cameras capable of detecting insufcient layer thickness in
comparison to the reference image. Holes in the barrier are detected and the threshold for size and number (user denable) of
exceeding defects can be determined. By adapting our inspection modules, both smooth wall and structured containers can be
inspected.
The BarrierWatcher is available in two congurations, a lab system with manual feeding or an in-line system integrated into your
product line.
