nnnnIntroduction
nnnnAn Accu-Pressure™ Gas Blanketing Regulator System
nnnnreduces a high-pressure gas, such as Nitrogen, to
nnnnmaintain a protective environment above any liquid
nnnnstored in a tank or vessel when the liquid is being
nnnnpumped out. Also when the vessel is suddenly cooled,
nnnncausing vapors inside the vessel to contract, the
nnnnregulator system replaces the volume of contracting
nnnnvapors with a volume of blanketing gas to prevent
nnnnthe internal vessel pressure from decreasing. In both
nnnncases, a slight positive vessel pressure prevents
nnnnoutside air, moisture and other contaminants from
nnnnentering the vessel and the possible collapse of the
nnnnvessel walls.
nnnnThe Type Y692 (Figure 1) is a direct-operated
nnnnregulator used for accurate pressure control on very
nnnnlow-pressure blanketing systems. Downstream
nnnnpressure is sensed through a pitot tube installed in
nnnnthe lower casing of the regulator for units with internal
nnnnpressure registration or through a downstream control
nnnnline for units with external pressure registration.
nnnnThe Type Y692 is available in NPS 1-1/2 and 2 /
nnnnDN 40 and 50 body sizes.
nnnnFeatures
nnnn• Ease of Inspection and Maintenance—The union
nnnnnut connection between the body and actuator
nnnnpermits access to the disk and orifice by only
nnnnremoving the diaphragm casing assembly without
nnnnremoving the body from the line.
nnnn• Accuracy of Control—Large diaphragm areas
nnnnprovide more precise control even at low-pressure
nnnnsettings and the pitot tube also creates a dynamic
nnnnboost that helps provide greater capacity.
nnnn• Speed of Response—The downstream pressure is
nnnnsensed directly by the diaphragm through the pitot
nnnntube providing quick response.
nnnn• Ease of Installation—The Type Y692 is easy
nnnnto install in the pipeline because no additional
nnnnconnections are required.
