Dresser-Rand’s Enginuity catalytic exhaust emissions solutions are engineered
to reduce your total cost of compliance. They work with the Enginuity intelligent
Compliance System (iCS) for regulatory compliance and long life.
Enginuity catalytic products include three-way and oxidation catalysts, catalytic
silencers and mufflers used in the power generation and gas transmission markets.
Manufacturers offer both standard and extended product warranties and also provide element-cleaning services. Dresser-Rand can provide Enginuity replacement
elements for most converter housings on the market today. Through our project
execution team we can furnish fully installed catalytic systems, including access
ladders, service platforms, and associated exhaust piping. We fit the right Enginuity
technology and service to match each client’s needs.

How The Catalytic Emissions System Works
The heart of the catalytic converter/catalytic silencer is the catalyst substrate. A
catalyst substrate consists of a cordierite (ceramic) or metallic foil honeycomb with
flow-through channels, coated with a thin layer of catalytic materials. The number of
channels in a substrate is typically between 200 and 400 cpsi (cells per square inch)
for engine applications. This large number of channels provides a high geometric
contact surface for the exhaust gas to pass through allowing catalytic reactions to
take place. The catalytic materials coated onto the surfaces of the channels consist
of a refractory inorganic oxide, various substances that act as chemical promoters
and stabilizers, and a combination of precious metals that can include platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The actual formulation of the coating and the precious metals
depends on the type of engine application. The Enginuity brand includes two main
