Forensics
The Forensics Product line has used the know-how of HORIBA Scientific
in optics and software to help the Police with the search for evidence.
Our tools are dedicated to the examination, capture, enhancement and
comparison of finger and palm prints.
Products are divided into four different lines.
Forensic Light Sources: FLS
The CrimeScope CS-16 general purpose light source has three principal advantages:
HH
The most powerful xenon FLS on the market (500 W)
HH
The largest light guide (10 mm)
HH
The FLS with the largest number of filters available in the same source (20)
The more powerful the FLS the more evidence will be found: fingerprints
(porous and non-porous surfaces), questioned documents, biology (body
fluids detection), trace evidence (hair, fibers, glass fragments), shoe prints,
gun shot residues, bite marks/bruises, human bone fragments etc. The
light at the output of the guide is very homogeneous (same intensity
at the periphery and center) which allows you to realise very good
pictures with optimum contrast. The infrared option can be used for
questioned documents.
The MiniCrimescope MCS-400 dedicated to crime scene and
laboratory work is a very powerful light source (400 W) equipped
with the same light guide as the CS-16 (double armed protection)
and filters mounted on a filter wheel (HORIBA Scientificpatent)
which allow the possibility to use up to 16 filters (on 2 wheels).
The optical quality of the MCS is nearly the same as the CS16. It is easily transportable to the crime scene owing to its
small weight and compact size.
The Xenon HandScope HSX-5000 is dedicated to the
crime scene where there is no electrical mains power (the
HSX can be used on its own battery, car battery or mains
power). Its high power xenon lamp, and the possibility to
use 14 different filters allows you to find a greater amount of
evidence at the crime scene.
SceneScope UV Imagers: RUVIS
The SceneScope Imager uses intensified UV reflectance
instead of fluorescence as in the forensics light sources. The
system can detect fingerprints on most non-porous surfaces
prior to any treatment or after a cyanoacrylate (superglue)
fuming. Fuming is required when preliminary examination
yields no results.
