Offline operations teams. This 
delivers a real‐time operational 
support platform that is 
information‐driven and focused 
on real production issues, giving 
Offline teams the information 
they need to quickly attack 
process variation, limit delays 
and maximise order‐to‐delivery

THE DIGITAL FACTORY

Spatially‐Driven Operations Monitoring 
Smart Factory Operations Centre models the physical layout of the 
production area, encoding important factory layout properties 
like process areas and work‐cells using “virtual zones” with 
associated properties. This creates a digital analogue of the 
Offline production space and allows Smart Factory to 
monitor and evaluate spatial and property‐driven 
business rules. This is targeted at supporting 
production teams better manage day‐to‐day 
operations by monitoring metrics and 
performance indicators (KPIs) that are 
directly linked to quality, efficiency 
and throughput.  
 

Operations Centre extends the search capabilities of Explorer to include knowledge of 
the physical layout and active workspaces in the Offline area

MONITOR MEASURE AND IMPROVE
Production Performance KPIs 
The automatic capture of vehicle movements and work‐cell interactions provide key 
process adherence and performance indicators.  Work‐cell metrics can be captured at 
varying degrees of granularity, from large areas containing several vehicles at any one 
time down to granular bay‐level monitoring for 
work‐cell occupancy.  With this hierarchy, work‐
cells can easily be monitored against
