The IBM RackSwitch™ G8124E is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch specifically designed for the data center, providing a virtualized, cooler and easier
network solution. The G8124E offers twenty-four 10 Gigabit Ethernet
ports in a high-density, 1U footprint. Designed with ultra-low latency
and and top performance in mind, the RackSwitch G8124E provides
line-rate, high-bandwidth switching, filtering and traffic queuing without
delaying data and large data-center grade buffers to keep traffic moving.
The G8124E also supports Converged Enhanced Ethernet (CEE) and
Data Center Bridging for support of Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)
and can be leveraged for NAS or iSCSI.
The G8124E is virtualized—supporting IBM VMready® technology, an
innovative, standards-based solution to manage virtual machines (VMs) in
small to large-scale data center and cloud environments. VMready works
with all leading VM providers. The G8124E also supports Virtual Fabric,
which allows for the carving up of a physical NIC into 2 - 8 virtual NICs
(vNICs) for improved performance, availability and security, while
reducing cost and complexity.
The G8124E is cooler—implementing a choice of directional cooling to
maximize data center layout and provisioning. Its superior airf low design
complements the hot-aisle and cold-aisle data center cooling model.
The G8124E is easier—with server-oriented provisioning via
point-and-click management interfaces. Its industry-standard CLI and
easy interoperability simplifies configuration for those familiar with
Cisco environments.
