nnnnThermal Transfer coding and marking devices are complex sys-
nnnntems using a combination of sofware, electronics and mechanics.
nnnnOver time the mechanical systems wear and the electronics' age
nnnnwill ultimately lead to failure. The QiC series of the Thermal Trans-
nnnnfer printers incorporate a 'Dynamic Monitoring System' (DMS) to
nnnnconstantly check the critical elements of the device and analyse
nnnnsystem performance and condition.

nnnn' Air pressures, flow rates and pneumatic seals
nnnn' Mechanical surface and bearing friction

nnnn(DSP) within the printer. The DSP analyses the continuous stream
