In brief ■ Synchronized recording of HMI screen activity and measured data with ibaPDA-V6 ■ Connecting up to 64 HMI stations per ibaPDA-V6 system ■ Local or centralized storage of video data ■ Easy configuration with ibaPDA-V6 I/O manager ■ Screen region and recording rate (frames per second) configurable ■ Capture of mouse position and mouse key strokes ■ Synchronized replay and analysis of video recordings and measured data in ibaAnalyzer For a better insight ibaCapture-HMI is a supplementary software product for synchronized recording of graphic screen contents on HMI stations and measured data with ibaPDA-V6. The basic purpose of this tool is to record the visualized process information for the line operator and show it in relation to process events or process behaviour. The precise linking of measured data and visual informaͭtion, including the operator's control commands, provides an unprecedented quality of process analysis because it enables the user to reveal the connection between visu-alized process events and the corresponding historical measured data synchronously on one screen. Connections between process control and measurement are easier to recognize and to conceive. Many tasks such as trouble shooting, process analysis, commissioning, training and documentation of process operation can be supported. Of course, not only HMI screens but also any other PC monitor can work with ibaCapture-HMI, provided they use Windows XP, 2000 or 2003 Server as operating system. Capture and data storage The ibaCapture-HMI program works as a service on every computer whose screen should be recorded. These computers must be connected with the ibaPDA-V6 system over an Ethernet TCP/IP network and run a supported Windows operating system. The ibaCapture service acquires the screen contents based on a configurable frame rate and stores the video information on the local hard disk or on a network share. The available storage capacity for video data can be con-figured. If the storage runs full, the oldest files will be overwritten. The role of ibaPDA-V6 ibaPDA-V6 controls the ibaCapture service and exchanges information over a special communication channel. During measurement and data recording the ibaCapture-HMI services on each HMI station send sync signals to the ibaPDA-V6 system which are stored in the data file together with the storage path reference of the video files. Hence, ibaPDA does not store the video data itself but the reference to it only. In order to view the video recording the correspon-ding ibaPDA measured data file is always required. Easy configuration The configuration of the different "video channels" can be done conveniently in the I/O manager of ibaPDA-V6. Each video source, i. e. each HMI screen is linked to an ibaCapture module with individual settings for video source, screen region, frame rate, storage path and capture/comͭpression method. A preview function provides control of correct selection and settings of video source. All active ibaCapture services in the network will be detected by ibaPDA-V6 automatically, provided that proper routing of messages is enabled. The analysis The recorded video data and measured data can be viewed and analyzed in ibaAnalyzer by opening the measured data file. The video recording of each HMI station can be viewed in a separate dockable window aside the usual signal charts. The marker position in the signal charts and the corresponding video frame are always displayed in precise synchronization. Mouse clicks performed on the HMI station will be highlighted when replaying the video. Of course, videos recorded by ibaCapture-HMI may be displayed in combination with those of ibaCapture-CAM.
