ARNOLD & SHINJO Piercing nuts in the
office furniture industry
A further example for the
multifarious fields of
application for piercing nuts
is the use in the office
furniture industry.
In close cooperation with the
customer Arnold & Shinjo
developed a tailor-made
solution meeting perfectly
the requirements of the
customer.
Arnold&Shinjo is a 100 percent subsidiary of the
global Würth Group with 54,900 employees and 375
companies in 83 countries and global sales of over
7.74bn Euro.
A European manufacturer of
high-grade office furniture
has decided to use piercing
nuts because he was not
satisfied with the process
reliability and the quality of
the originally used welding
nuts.
After a period of one year of
trouble-free successful
operation it is now intended
to use piercing nuts also on
other parts.
In addition, one is also
considering installing a
universal C-Frame unit
which, as a stand-alone
solution, could be used to
process the most differing
components and nut sizes.
The company has found the
piercing nut to be an
alternative meeting the
requirements expected from
a fastening system providing
process-reliability and costeffectiveness.
! No punched hole required,
i.e. no offset between nut
and hole
! Accurately defined
positioning of the nut
! No thermal effect on the
sheet material which could
alter the microstructure.
! No weld sputter in the
thread and spoiling of the
surface
! No expensive follow-up
work required
! Reduction of process time
! No stress on the
environment due to vapours,
gases, or noise

The two piercing nuts are
fastened in one stroke to the
component, which is fed-in
automatically and located in
a special jig.
The nut piercing unit,
connected by means of a
column frame to the power
unit, is integrated into the
existing production line.
.
The piercing nuts are fed
into the system from
refillable magazines, which
can be replaced without
problems by a vibratory
spiral conveyor in case more
capacity is required.
