With the ever increasing demand for data and bandwidth of
data centers and telecommunication applications, it results in
high I/O density requirements for edge-mounted optical
interfaces. To provide a proper solution, embedded parallel
optics have become the choice.
US Conec’s PRIZM® LightTurn® 12-fiber connector consists
of a multi-fiber ferrule with a photonic turn TIR lens array
accepting cleaved fibers enclosed in a single outer housing.
This detachable connector is designed for high speed board
mounted parallel optic modules to provide passive alignment
and novel retention features allowing multiple re-matings
perpendicular to the printed circuit board.
Optec manufactures customized assemblies using PRIZM® LightTurn® connector in combination with MPO
style connector to support a significant increase in card edge port density compared to conventional transceivers,
or parallel active optical cables on the card edge. It is available in 1.6mm round jacketed and bare ribbon fiber
cable assemblies, with the choice of OM2, OM3 or OM4 for use across multiple applications.
