No bridging
An essential part of a complete recycling plant for plasticscraps is to stock, homogenize, mix and discharge thesevaluable substances.
Herbold Meckesheim GmbH - specializing in size reduction andrecycling of plastic scraps - supplies the suitable silo systemsfor all badly flowing materials as film flakes, fibres, mono- andmultifilaments etc. Due to their often low bulk density, their free
flowing characteristics and frictional
electricity, badly flowing materials are susceptible to bridging, and thus, are
extremely difficult to discharge from a silo. The design of the Herbold HRS silo prevents
safely the bridging effect and ensures a
trouble-free discharge of the badly flowing materials. >
Design
The Herbold HRS silo features three principal
components: the cone shaped silo body, the
agitator shaft with agitating arm, and one or
several discharge screws to supply different
consumers. The agitator shaft and the
agitating arm are driven by a gear motor
mounted under the silo bottom.. >
Mode of functioning
The cone shaped silo body ensures that the
following material continues sinking, even if it
has a very low bulk density. The agitator
screw with its agitating arm keeps the
material moving and prevents bridging from
the very beginning. The agitating arm is lying
narrowly above the bottom and at each turn
pushes the material over the opening under
which the discharge screw is mounted.
The correct rotating speed of the agitating
arm is decisive for a continuous discharge of
the badly flowing material. The discharge
screws are driven by a gear motor. There is
a choice to adjust the speed of the discharge
screw either by hand, or - when using a
frequency converter - via the system control. >
