Hyperspec® SNAPSHOT
Field-Deployable Hyperspectral Sensor
The handheld Hyperspec® SNAPSHOT VNIR
(380-1000 nm) imaging sensor offers field
scientists the ability to quickly render a highresolution hyperspectral scene at distances of
1.5 kilometers
Field-deployed hyperspectral imaging takes a major step forward
with Headwall’s Hyperspec SNAPSHOT. This rugged, fully integrated
sensor can survey any particular region of interest with very high spatial
and spectral resolution. Scientists and agriculturalists can monitor
trends and anomalies relating to crop health, forestry management,
plant phenotyping, geologic science, and more.
Hyperspec SNAPSHOT is a true point-and-stare hyperspectral sensor
operating in the VNIR spectral range of 380nm to 1000nm. It can capture
the hyperspectral scene in as little as three seconds at a distance of
1.5 km. Target sets and signatures of interest can be downloaded onto
the sensor or made available on the removable SD card. By focusing
on certain spectral signatures, Hyperspec SNAPSHOT represents an
entirely new tool for the field-research community. Disease conditions,
nutrient levels, and the presence of plant- or crop-related anomalies
can all be selectively identified hyperspectrally. This level of spectral
discrimination means better planting and harvesting decisions thanks
to data that is many times more beneficial than that collected from
RGB or multi-spectral cameras.

The optical hyperspectral engine is based on Headwall’s existing
Hyperspec® imaging sensor platform. It has been suitably adapted
for high-speed/high throughput operation in harsh environments. The
optical design of Hyperspec SNAPSHOT rapidly and accurately scans
the field of view utilizing either the customized wide or narrow field
of view optics. The Hyperspec SNAPSHOT is optimized for optical
throughput providing true real-time operation.
