Certified Access Winch
This super lightweight winch is easily portable
and specifically designed for access and
mobile back-country applications. Using
an ultraefficient and balanced action
ergonomically similar to that used in
cycling, one person can lift up to 500 kg
(1103 lb). Two different power ratios
provide for either quick lifting of
lighter loads or a greater
mechanical advantage
for heavier loads.
Uses
The 40 Access Winch can mount to tripods,
trailer hitches, and firmly anchored objects
such as large trees to raise and lower
diverse loads in various applications.
Features
Harken’s patented shaped grip greatly
reduces rope wear compared to an abrasive
surface grip. The drum geometry reduces
problems with overrides while allowing
loads to be lowered in a smooth and
controlled manner.
The Access Winch can pull in an unlimited
length of rope like a capstan, exceeding the
finite range of a reel winch. Unlike a
capstan, the Harken self-tailing Access
Winch allows for one-person operation,
securing the rope against slipping while the
winch is in use or under a static load, and
automatically stripping rope off the drum
when winding.

Materials
Tough composites and Hardkote-anodized
aluminium reduce weight for demanding and
mobile back-country use.
Stainless steel and bronze in the mechanics
of the winch make it strong, durable, and
corrosion resistant.
Maintenance
The self-tailer allows the winch to pull an
unlimited length of rope like a capstan
winch while retaining the security and
one-person operation of a reel winch.
Harken winches are designed for minimal
maintenance. Simply clean and lubricate the
winch periodically as described in the product
manual. The low-friction composite bearings
do not require any lubrication.
