The FCI AirMax VS® I/O connectors and cable

nnnn

assemblies, the first I/O high-performance

nnnn

connector system to use a shield-less design with

nnnn

an air dielectric between conductors, deliver

nnnn

signal densities up to 63.5 differential pairs per

nnnn

inch while exhibiting low insertion loss and low

nnnn

crosstalk. This interconnect system allows

nnnn

hardware system designers to scale differential

nnnn

signal transmission from 2.5Gb/s per channel up

nnnn

to 10Gb/s per channel without requiring any

nnnn

connector system enhancements or upgrades.

nnnn

The AirMax VS cables are constructed using 4

nnnn

differential pair per column wafers with the wafers

nnnn

being spaced on 2mm centerlines. The cable

nnnn

assemblies are offered in either 96 or 120 positions

nnnn

configurations and mate with corresponding

nnnn

AirMax VS board mount connectors in vertical

nnnn

and right angle configurations.

nnnn

The cables are retained to the board headers via

nnnn

a passive latching system.

nnnn

Additionally, customized I/O solutions that meet

nnnn

customer specific internal or external application

nnnn

requirements are possible and can include

nnnn

features such as alternative cable retention

nnnn

methods, such as active latches or jack screws,

nnnn

and overall EMI shielding to address external

nnnn

front-panel or rear-plug I/O cabling solutions.
