nnnnFabco-Air Multi-Power® Boosters
nnnnprovide a convenient, low cost way of
nnnnadding the control, rigidity, and power of
nnnnhydraulics to an air powered machine.
nnnnBoosters use shop airto raise the pressure
nnnnof another gas or liquid.They are compact,
nnnnand versatile finding use in numerous of
nnnnapplications such as clamping, shearing,
nnnnpressing, crimping, bending, testing, and
nnnnmany more.
nnnnWhen relatively small volumes of high-
nnnnpressure fluid are called for intermittently
nnnnboosters show obvious advantages over
nnnncontinuously running hydraulic systems.
nnnnFor applications where high pressure
nnnnmust be maintained for prolonged times,
nnnnboosters are ideal. After the booster
nnnnstrokes, there is no further energy input
nnnnrequired and no heat build up.
nnnnA booster can be mounted in almost
nnnnany convenient location, and most of its
nnnncontrol valves are installed in the low-pres-
nnnnsure circuit where lower cost components
nnnnsave costs over hydraulics.
nnnnThe input is shop air, or any compat-
nnnnible gas, up to 150 psi; the output can
nnnnbe oil, liquid, air, or gas pressurized to
nnnn500 psi maximum.
nnnnBy selecting the proper combination of
nnnnboresize, stroke, powerfactorand regulat-
nnnning the input air pressure, the exact output
nnnnpressure and required volume can be
nnnnachieved and maintained.
nnnnSince it is a basic booster without
nnnncontrols built-in, it can be adapted and
nnnncontrolled to perform a wide variety of
nnnnapplications. Fabco-Air boosters are not
nnnnlimited to cylinder applications. They may
nnnnbe used wherever a small volume of high-
nnnnpressure media is required.
nnnn• Low initial cost: Boosters can eliminate
nnnnthe need for costly hydraulic systems.
nnnn» Low energy cost. Boosters hold pressure
nnnnindefinitely without energy loss.
nnnnSave space: Boosters can usually be
nnnnmounted directly on the machine unlike
nnnnpumping units which are large and bulky.
nnnn• Smooth power: Boosters give the work
nnnncylinder the rigid, smooth, controlled mo-
nnnntion of hydraulics.
nnnn• Safe: Boosters can be completely air
nnnnoperated to function safely in a potentially
nnnnhazardous environment.
nnnn• Clean: Air to air boosters have no oil or
nnnnliquid to contaminate the surroundings.

nnnnThis series is built for use on systems in which the input to the booster will be
nnnngravity fed (no pressure) fluid or atmospheric pressure gas. It requires a 4-way air
nnnnvalve for operation. Porting is provided on the unit for the multiple piston power
nnnnstroke and the single piston reset stroke. (See example circuits on page 6.11.)

nnnnbe pressurized fluid or gas. It requires a 3-way air valve for operation. Porting is
nnnnprovided on the unit for the power stroke only. When power stroke air is removed,
nnnnthe pressurized booster input will reset the pistons. (See example circuits on
nnnnpage 6.9 and 6.10.)
