nnnnDrumcleaner Rubble Separator
nnnnThe F.H. SCHULE Drumcleaner is an efficient and rugged rubble
nnnnseparator for all types of grain and maize. The machine has a high
nnnncapacity for pre-cleaning grains etc. with a high moisture and
nnnnimpurity content.
nnnnThe unit is usually positioned at the intake point of a plant and
nnnnrequires only a minimum of supervision and maintenance.
nnnnThe Drumcleaner is available in three sizes, viz. type 149.15,
nnnn149.20 and 149.25 with capacities from 75 to 150 tones grain per
nnnnhour.
nnnnDesign
nnnnThe Drumcleaner is a totally enclosed, dustproof steel machine
nnnnwith all movable parts fully guarded.
nnnnThe cleaning process is effected by means of three rotary drums
nnnnensuring an absolutely steady and vibrationless operation.
nnnnFunction
nnnnThe grain enters the inlet feeding over the full working width of the
nnnnmachine and runs on to three specially developed reels provided
nnnnwith "pockets" to accept the grain. Each reel is equipped with steel
nnnnfingers, which carry larger impurities such as sticks, straw and
nnnnstones into the waste outlet along with other large impurities,
nnnnwhich will not drop into the pockets.
nnnnThe grain from the pockets is then earned through to the air recir-
nnnnculating system.
nnnnThe enclosed adjustable aspiration system draws across the full
nnnnwidth of the machine all light particles such as chaff, shells and
nnnndust from the free falling grain. The coarse impurities are then de-
nnnnposited into the expansion chamber and discharged by means of
nnnna built-in screw conveyor, all light particles are removed through a
nnnnslot across the full machine width and fed to the same outlet via a
nnnnmini cyclone. 90% of the cleaned air from the aspiration system is
nnnnrecirculated.
nnnnInlet
nnnnA steady and uniform flow of grain is imperative to obtain the
nnnnoptimum performance and cleaning quality. Therefore, it is
nnnnstrongly recommended to install a buffer bin with level indicator
nnnn(as shown in the drawing). The buffer bin is available with the
nnnnmachine but must be specified on orders as a separate item.
nnnnOutlet
nnnnAt the outlet a hopper for spout connection can be fitted (optional).
nnnnAnother possibility is to connect a chain conveyor directly to the
nnnnoutlet (optional). A hopper for the heavy waste is included and can
nnnnbe supplied with sack off arrangement or screw conveyor at extra
nnnncost. A sack off arrangement can also be supplied for the dust
nnnnscrew at extra equipment.
nnnn1. The inlet is equipped with a weighted flap, which together with
nnnnthe top reel ensures a uniform input flow. As extra equipment
nnnna level control is available which automatically starts and
nnnnstops the feeding conveyor thus ensuring a steady supply.
nnnnThe grain feed control is equipped with a spring-loaded
nnnncounter weight releasing only when enough grain for filling up
nnnnthe machine has been supplied.
nnnnBaffle plates prevent kernels bouncing over the reels.
nnnnSteel fingers: Above each reel a set of steel fingers are
nnnninstalled in order to separate straws etc. from the grain. Above
nnnnthese 3 rows of steel fingers an air guiding plate is mounted,
nnnnthe plate controls the air volume that passes the steel fingers
nnnnand hense the quantity of fine dust in the straw outlet.
nnnnReels with "pockets": The 3 reels have different "pocket" sizes
nnnnand numbers of revolutions. During rotation of the reels impu-
nnnnrities bigger than the grain are being sorted out. The reels
nnnnguide the grain to the aspiration system, where lighter
nnnnparticles are being sucked away due to their different floating
nnnnvelocity.
nnnnOutlet across the full width of the machine for larger impuri-
nnnnties, which have been mechanically separated from the grain.
nnnnIn this outlet will also be dust and light impurities together with

nnnnsome of the air pressure from the recirculating air system.
nnnnA screw conveyor is available as extra equipment.
nnnn7. Discharge of cleaned grain: The pre-cleaned grain is dis-
nnnncharged through an outlet across the full width of the machine.
nnnnA hopper is available as extra equipment as is a sack off
nnnnarrangement.
nnnn8. A cross-flow impellor re-circulates the air thus ensuring a
nnnnuniform air velocity across the full width of the machine.
nnnn9. Re-circulating system: Specially developed plates guide the
nnnngrain through the air flow to the outlet.
nnnn10. Air volume adjustment: in Order to obtain the optimum
nnnncleaning effect the air volume in the aspiration system must be
nnnnregulated according to moisture content and impurity of the
nnnngrain.
nnnn11. Dust collecting chamber: Dust and other light impurities are
nnnndeposited in the dust collecting chamber and discharged by a
nnnnscrew conveyor (re. 13)
nnnn12. Mini cyclone: The dust is separated in the mini cyclone and
nnnncollected in the screw conveyor (re. 13). Under normal condi-
nnnntions the cyclone can be connected to a central exhaust sys-
nnnntem.
nnnn13. The screw conveyor transports light particles from both the
nnnndust collecting chamber and the mini cyclone to the outlet is
nnnnequipped with a control switch for overload which automati-
nnnncally stops the machine.
