Dust Collectors
A clean environment where you can see the parts clearly is essential to accurately blast small parts. Effective
removal of the very fine micro-abrasives from the workstation requires more than a simple shop vacuum. Only an
industrial grade dust collection system can provide appropriate airflow through the work chamber to extract the spent
abrasive, as well as the proper filter material to trap the minute particles, returning clean air to the room. Comco offers
two lines of industrial dust collectors to handle clean up for the occasional blaster to the fully automated continuous
blasting system. In addition to these dust collectors, Comco offers a dust collector and workstation all in a single
freestanding unit: the ProCenter.
Dust Collectors for the occasional blaster to the continuous fully automated system
DC 2000-2300 Series Cloth Bag Dust Collectors
DC 3100-3300 Series Cartridge Dust Collectors
Cloth style dust
collectors are
freestanding units that
do not require special
installation. Their
compact design
includes everything
necessary for
connection to the back
of the workstation.
Models are available for
systems using a single
MicroBlaster®
intermittently up to the
larger DirectFlo or
PowerFlo® production
model blasters.
These centralized dust
collection systems are
designed for heavier
requirements such as use of
multiple blasters, continuous
use of a DirectFlo or
PowerFlo® or with
automated systems. They
are equipped with a sensor
that triggers the automatic
cleaning as needed, while in
operation. The filter design
and automatic cleaning
increase the efficiency of the
filters, which means longer
life.

How They Work
The particles are trappped on the outer surface of
the filter bags. The clean air passes through the filter
and is re-circulated into the room. A manual shaker
dislodges dust particles from the filter surfaces and
drops them into a drawer. If filter bags are emptied at
least once a week, a cloth bag style dust collector
from Comco will give years of uninterrupted, troublefree service.
The air and abrasives enter the collector at the top
and travel in a downward path through the filter
cartridges, taking advantage of gravity to assist in
depositing the particles in the hopper. It uses pleated
cartridges that offer an increased filter surface area,
trap media more efficiently, and are easier to clean.
When the automated cleaning takes place, the abrasive
shaken from the filters drops into a 10-gallon pail for
convenient storage and disposal.
