Dehumidification
The Carrier container refrigeration system, with Micro-Link® 3 controller, can
be fitted with dehumidification by installing a humidity sensor. The system
can then record relative humidity along with temperature data.
Our dehumidification option is particularly effective when transporting
perishables such as root crops (onions, flower bulbs, etc.) because it helps
prevent the growth of mold and fungus.
The Micro-Link 3 controller will accept setpoints from 50 to 95% on the
PrimeLINE® unit (60 to 95% on the ThinLINE® unit) RH for dehumidification.
RH setpoint must be operator selected for each trip. Dehumidification is
auto atically limited by the controller to setpoints used with chilled cargoes
m
– not frozen. Additionally an optional Bulb Mode feature can be provided,
which provides the user with expanded RH setpoint capabilities as well
as evaporator fan and defrost setting controls more tailored to the special
requirements associated with flower bulb and tuber shipments.
The humidity sensor is also available in kit form for field installation. Carrier
systems are factory pre-wired, making field installation of the sensor quick
and easy. The solid-state sensor mounts in the return-air stream with a
supplied bracket and hardware. Simple electrical connection is made by
pre-wired plug-in connector. After sensor installation, the controller must be
configured to recognize the sensor. Instructions are included with the kit.
