nnS nnPECTROSCOPY
nnCapabilities nnBubble Technology Industries Inc. (BTI) is recognized internationally for its unique expertise in radiation sci-ence, particularly in neutron dosimetry and spectroscopy. BTI was founded in 1988 based on the technology of passive neutron bubble detectors/dosimeters that now are used worldwide. Currently, BTI can provide a com-
plete range of neutron spectroscopy instrumentation covering a wide range of sophistication and application. Detailed information on any of these products can be acquired by contacting BTI.
nnBDS
nnThe BDS ( B ubble D etector S pectrometer) is based on specially formulated bubble detectors that have different neutron energy thresholds. Similar to fast-neutron activa-
tion detectors, the measured spectrum from the BDS is derived by ٓunfolding the response of the different detec-
tors of the BDS. The BDS provides spectra in six energy bins. It has two very important properties Ԗ it is com-
pletely insensitive to gamma rays allowing it to be used in areas with intense gamma background and since it is pas-
sive, it can be used in pulsed radiation fields. The BDS should be used whenever one wants to know something about the energy of the neutron field, especially where the neutron field is only a very small fraction of the total radia-
tion field. The BDS has been used to determine the neu-
tron spectrum in space and is often used in connection with pulsed reactor operations and for assessing the neu-
tron field from medical (or research) accelerators.
nnRC-18 Bubble Recompression Chamber nnN-PROBEי
nnThis unique probe is one of several types of probes used with our Microspec portable analyzer. The output of the N-PROBE is a 16 bin neutron spectrum coupled with ac-
curate neutron dosimetry. The N-PROBE is intended for radiation monitoring applications and consists of a special scintillator (with gamma discrimination properties) for fast neutrons and a special

nnHe counter for ther-mal and epi-thermal neutrons. The N-PROBE is intended primarily for very accurate neutron dosimetry by deriving the neutron dose from the measured neutron spectrum (thermal to 20 MeV). While the quality of the neutron spectrum from the N-PROBE is not intended to be ֓standards-laboratory quality, the derived dose-equivalent is by far the most accurate of all other ԓdosemeters cur-
rently in use.
