Programmable High Voltage Tester for
Photovoltaic Modules
T
he manual High Voltage Test™ Station 4600 provides a
protected, convenient platform for performing high
voltage testing on solar photovoltaic modules up to 1400 mm x
2100 mm. The station consists of a rugged steel frame
supporting an electrically non-conductive table top that serves
as the module test surface. A dielectric analyzer is used for
testing the dielectric strength of insulating materials and
measuring the amount of leakage current from a test specimen
at a selected high voltage. The Hi-Pot Tester System (”Analyzer”)
can be used for photovoltaic module safety testing to identify
modules with the potential for leaking hazardous electrical
currents when modules are installed in the field.
The “Analyzer” is a microprocessor controlled dielectric and
ground continuity tester designed for ease of use and operator
safety. The instrument provides the capability to meet the Hi-Pot
Test requirements of UL, IEC, CSA, VDE, TÜV and other safety
agencies and European Norms including the Low Voltage
Directive 73/23/EEC. The “Analyzer” is versatile enough to meet a
wide range of testing applications.
The “Analyzer” is operator friendly, using setup screens that
ensure that the operator correctly sets all required test
parameters. The tamper proof front panel controls make it
possible to limit user access to the setup screens so that only
authorized personnel with a security password can change test
parameters.
Used for PV module safety testing
Storage of up to 50 different test programs is beneficial in the
manufacturing line. This makes it possible to store all of the
various test parameters required and quickly recall them for
each different product that needs to be tested.
Programmable parameters include test voltage, ramp time,
dwell time, and leakage current limit. A LCD display clearly
indicates setup parameters and test results. Function keys speed
setup without scrolling through menus.
