nnnnThe Trimble® Aardvark DR+GPS
nnnncombines dead reckoning (DR)
nnnnwith GPS to produce accurate and
nnnninstantaneous positions, even under
nnnnthe most difficult conditions. For
nnnnservice providers tracking high-
nnnnvalue or perishable cargo, Aardvark
nnnnDR+GPS dramatically improves
nnnnquality of service (QoS). Dead
nnnnreckoning (DR) estimates position
nnnnbased on heading and distance
nnnntraveled since the last known
nnnnposition. The more accurate the
nnnnspeed, time and heading inputs, the
nnnnmore accurate the dead reckoning.
nnnnThis is where GPS helps. GPS
nnnncontinuously calibrates the gyro
nnnnand speed sensors to produce
nnnnoptimal dead reckoning. Aardvark
nnnnDR+GPS has an on-board gyro
nnnnsensor and accepts inputs from an
nnnnodometer pulse and a forward/
nnnnreverse indicator. Its sophisticated
nnnnDR+GPS algorithm autocalibrates
nnnnthese sensors and optimally blends
nnnnthe sensor inputs and GPS to
nnnnproduce accurate position and
nnnnvelocity outputs in the most hostile
nnnnGPS environments.
nnnnThe Aardvark DR+GPS comes in two
nnnnflavors: the -30 that must be flat
nnnnmounted and the -50 that can be
nnnnmounted in any orientation.
nnnnThe -50 version contains a three axis
nnnngyro and sophisticated algorithms
nnnnto self-calibrate. This allows the
nnnnmodule to be mounted in any
nnnnorientation on your vehicle and still
nnnnoutput the highest quality position
nnnnand velocity measurements.
