VISIBILITY SENSOR MODEL MV 32
Description
The MV 32 Laser Visibility Sensor is a compact sensor for accurate visibility measurement. The enclosure is small, robust and easy to install. The light weight enclosure contains a semi conductor laser and a pController system.
The serial and analogue outputs makes the MV 32 Visibility sensor easy to integrate in almost every measurement system.
Main applications are for road weather monitoring systems like fog warning for traffic.
Another important application is for adjustment of public lighting. The Visibility measurement is used in systems to dim the public lighting. In case poor visibility is detected the public lighting will be switched to maximum.
Principle of operation
The backscatter laser measuring principle is able to analyse water particles in different forms, like snow, rain of fog.
The internal control system sends a modulated signal through the laser and measures over 2 minutes the reflections by water particles (see figure below). Every 2 minutes the value for fog will be calculated and send to the analogue and serial output.
