Micro Coat Filter for liquid filtration

1. Introduction:

Herding has developed the new innovative Micro Coat* DELTAForce" filter element based

nnnn

on the Herding Sinter Lamella filter (HSL) for the separation of very finest particles from

nnnn

liquids, f. e. water, water based coolants, emulsion or oil based coolants.

nnnn

In order to separate the very fine particles down to a few microns special structured filter

nnnn

surfaces are necessary, where as the pressure drop of the filter element should be in an

nnnn

economical acceptable range. This target has been achieved by applying a thin Micro Coat*

nnnn

on a comparatively coarse filter element structure.

nnnn

This Micro Coat* is embedded in the outer surface part of the filter element structure and not

nnnn

asa layer on the outer surface of the element.

nnnn

The Micro Coat* is a composite of very fine inorganic particles with organic additives which

nnnn

are favourable for the regeneration/back flushing process of the DELTAForce*'element

nnnn

2. Filter element construction:

nnnn

Beside the new Micro Coat* system Herding has

nnnn

been successful in constructing a gasket free filter

nnnn

element which avoids all the well known gasket

nnnn

related problems which occur especially in the

nnnn

filtration of very fine particles from liquids. The

nnnn

new gasket free DELTAForce** element consists

nnnn

of the sinter lamella filter body, which is embedded

nnnn

in a stainless steel head and foot piece. By

nnnn

integrating the filter body, the head and the foot

nnnn

piece in one unit a new filter system has been

nnnn

born ready to be connected with the influent and

nnnn

effluent pipe work of the filter plant.

The clean liquid Is discharged centrally through

nnnn

the connection pipe which is integrated in the

nnnn

head piece of the filter element. The back flushing

nnnn

pipe is also integrated in the head piece.

nnnn

The filter area for one DELTAForce** filter element

nnnn

can be up to 7,6 m2.

nnnn

The vertical orientation of the sinter lamella

nnnn

structure of the filter element supports the

nnnn

dislodging of the filter cake to the drag conveyor

nnnn

during the back flushing process.
