GENERAL DESCRIPTION

nnnn

The Model 608 Prism Predisperser is a small

nnnn

prism monochromator that may be used with

nnnn

many McPherson UV-Vis-IR scanning monochro-

nnnn

mators. Throughout its range (185 to 2600-nm), it

nnnn

eliminates multiple order effects and reduces stray

nnnn

light by narrowing the bandwidth of broad sources

nnnn

used for monochromator illumination.

nnnn

The predisperser employs a 500-micron fixed

nnnn

width entrance slit, a fused silica prism, a 6-inch

nnnn

focal length collimating and focusing mirror and

nnnn

diverting mirrors.

nnnn

The Model 608 Prism Predisperser mounts di-

nnnn

rectly to the entrance slit assembly. Efficient

nnnn

optical coupling between the predisperser and the

nnnn

monochromator is achieved by using the entrance

nnnn

slit of the monochromator as the exit slit of the

nnnn

predisperser. The predisperser is scanned through

nnnn

the wavelength range by a precision cam that

nnnn

provides linear wavelength change with a uniform

nnnn

rotation drive shaft. Using the optional connecting

nnnn

shaft, the drive can be coupled directly to the

nnnn

monochromator wavelength drive for synchronized

nnnn

scanning throughout the wavelength range of the

nnnn

predisperser.

A wavelength counter that indicates wavelength in

nnnn

nanometers is supplied with the Model 608.

nnnn

It is easy to make your single

nnnn

monochromator a double!

nnnn

The Model 608 prism predisperser fits directly

nnnn

to McPherson Models 218,2051,207, 2061,

nnnn

209 and 2062. Simply bolt the Model 608 on

nnnn

and couple to the primary monochromator

nnnn

drive system. At the users preference an

nnnn

independent drive system can be used.

nnnn

This easy to install system provides double

nnnn

monochromator stray light rejection in a

nnnn

manner adaptable to existing instruments.

nnnn
