nnnn|]iPOx-BAC Reuse Solution
nnnnAPTwater has pioneered a revolutionary new treatment solution for indirect potable reuse
nnnnthat finally makes water reclamation safe, sustainable, and affordable. HiPOx is the first and
nnnnonly ozone-based oxidation technology to receive Title 22 disinfection acceptance from the
nnnnCalifornia Department of Public Health for unrestricted water reuse. HiPOx has powerful
nnnnoxidation chemistry and efficiency that make it the best available treatment technology for
nnnnsimultaneous disinfection and destruction of both regulated and emerging contaminants.
nnnnThe addition of biologically activated carbon (BAC) after HiPOx in the treatment train
nnnnprovides a multiple barrier to remove any and all oxidation by-products, and to reduce
nnnnthe water's total organic carbon (TOC). The result is the highest quality reclaimed water,
nnnncompletely free of pathogens and trace contaminants, meeting the most stringent drinking
nnnnwater guidelines that protect human health and environmentally sensitive areas.
nnnnThe HiPOx-BAC Reuse Solution is a significant improvement over the traditional indirect
nnnnpotable reuse approach consisting of reverse osmosis (RO) followed by UV AOP. The RO-
nnnnUV AOP solution is very expensive and produces a 20-25% waste stream concentrated with
nnnnpathogens, salts, and contaminants requiring special disposal measures and additional
nnnncosts. The disposal of RO reject is often impossible or not environmentally sustainable in
nnnnmany areas of the world. The HiPOx-BAC solution actually destroys contaminants with no
nnnnsignificant waste stream. The overall cost of the HiPOx-BAC solution is at least 50% lower
nnnnthan the RO-UV AOP solution due to less expensive capital equipment and a significant
nnnnreduction in energy consumption.
